Jess Guerriero, a social worker at OHSU’s Transgender Health Program, speaks about gender as a social construct and the emotional and physiological experience of gender expression and identity throughout childhood, puberty, adolescence, adulthood, and seniority.


Presenter Bios

Jess Guerriero, MA, MSW, (they/them) is a social worker at OHSU’s Transgender Health Program. Jess works to improve experiences for OHSU community members through assisting clients in identifying affirming care providers within and outside of OHSU. Jess also has a second graduate degree in Gender and Cultural Studies from Simmons College. While at Simmons, Jess focused their work on a thesis that argued for the expansion of transgender health coverage and a movement toward therapists as partners, rather than gatekeepers, in the transition process.
