Dr. Alessandra Angelino (she/her) is a board-certified pediatrician with fellowship training in adolescent medicine and a deep commitment to equity in healthcare. Her work spans clinical care, community engagement, policy, and research – all grounded in inclusive, culturally safe practice.
She majored in International Health at Georgetown University and completed her medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by an MPH in Global Health at the University of Washington. Her early work with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Australia helped shape her dedication to Indigenous health, adolescent wellbeing, and public health.
Dr. Alessandra completed her Pediatrics Residency at the University of North Carolina and her Adolescent Medicine Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. She continues to work with the Indian Health Service as a physician contractor and the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board as a lead clinical consultant in adolescent and pediatric medicine.
In the research space, her work focuses on intersectionality, cultural connection, and mental health outcomes. She leads and contributes to community-based participatory research and has served as a liaison to the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Native American Child Health (CONACH). Her advocacy efforts are rooted in increasing visibility and access for Indigenous youth and adolescents.
Dr. Alessandra is also passionate about caring for youth with chronic conditions such as Long COVID, Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, orthostatic intolerance (including POTS), and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).
She also brings personal insight and professional expertise in experience with military connected youth—whether for routine pediatric care or more complex adolescent health needs. She is honored to care for military children and adolescents as they face the unique challenges of deployments, PCS moves, and extended separations, always with compassion and respect for their families’ service.
Dr. Alessandra currently practices as a pediatrician and adolescent medicine specialist in Boston, MA.
