In this presentation Dr. James Cowan, Infectious Disease Physician serving at the Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), shares Northern Navajo Medical Center’s (NNMC) story of how they have improved their ability to track syphilis and complete the loop from testing, diagnosis, staging, follow up, initiation and completion of treatment. The one-hour General Session includes an opportunity to engage in a didactic presentation on how to share data in a HIPAA compliant manner to monitor a patient’s testing and treatment history for clinicians inside the facility and those providing outreach services ‘outside the four walls’, gain insight on NNMC’s key findings on how it has positively impacted the proportion of patients who are diagnosed, and receive timely syphilis treatment, become part of a learning community, and ask questions about reducing syphilis transmission in Indigenous healthcare systems.
