Jenna White, MD, FAEMS, started in EMS in 2000 as an EMT-Basic in rural central Pennsylvania, and is currently an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of New Mexico, a faculty member in the UNM Center for Rural and Tribal EMS, and an EMS instructor at the UNM EMS Academy.  She received her undergraduate degree from Penn State University and attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago.  After residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Michigan, she completed an EMS fellowship at the University of New Mexico.  Jenna currently serves as EMS Medical Director for Sandoval County Fire Rescue, Bernalillo Fire Department, Cochiti Fire and EMS, Santo Domingo Pueblo EMS, Jemez Pueblo EMS, Cuba EMS, Cuba Fire Department, two local search and rescue teams, and the Sandoval County Regional Emergency Communications Center.

Jenna also chairs a working group jointly sponsored by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Centers for Disease Control focusing on reducing maternal death and severe maternal morbidity in non-obstetric settings.   She is the chair-elect for the National Association of EMS Physicians’ Rural EMS Committee and serves as the Secretary for the New Mexico Chapter of the National Association of EMS Physicians.  Her areas of academic interest include maternal morbidity and mortality reduction, prehospital ultrasound, EMS provider recruitment and retention, and wilderness/austere environment medicine.
