The Indian Country Dermatology ECHO provides comprehensive information to support Indian Health Service, Tribal, and Urban Indian clinicians to improve dermatologic care and access for American Indian and Alaska Native people. In this session, Dr. Savannah Alvarado, MD, dermatology resident physician at the University of Pennsylvania, identifies the common presentation of eczema, shares tips on how to become comfortable with classic eczema management and patient counseling, and discusses the pearls and pitfalls of helping patients and planing next steps when patients aren’t improving.

Savannah Alvarado, MD

Savannah Alvarado, MD, is a third-year dermatology resident at the University of Pennsylvania. Savannah earned mention on the Dean’s List during each semester of her undergraduate education at Hamilton College. In addition to completing her pre-medical courses, she took the opportunity to study in Spain and South Africa and ultimately graduated a semester early with a major in Hispanic Studies and a minor in Biology. At Hamilton, Savannah spent her free time working as a TA in general and organic chemistry and teaching ESL in the neighboring city. After graduation, she spent two years working at Weill Cornell in New York City then moved back to Connecticut to attend medical school. At Uconn, she was awarded Professional Honors in Scholarship as well as the Faculty Award for Overall Academic Excellence. She now works at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she is completing a combined residency program in Internal Medicine and Dermatology.
