Then, Dr. Jamie Cowan, Infectious Diseases Physician at the Northern Navajo Medical Center, shares the story of starting a multidisciplinary diabetic foot infection team.

Dr. Alithea Gabrellas, MD, is an Infectious Diseases Physician at Gallup Indian Medical Center. Dr. Gabrellas received her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, and specialized in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine.

Jamie Cowan
MD, MPH, MBA

Dr. Jamie F. Cowan, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., is a practicing internal medicine and infectious disease physician who is dedicated to improving the delivery of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), infectious diseases and comprehensive primary care to patients in the USA and in resource-poor settings. Dr. Cowan earned his bachelor’s degree from Brown University, his M.D. from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and his M.B.A. from the University of Washington. Dr. Cowan joined the UW faculty in 2013 and currently practices as an attending physician at Harborview Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Dr. Cowan’s clinical interests include primary care, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. Dr. Cowan enjoys partnering with patients to assess their health care needs and to jointly create an individualized care plan. Dr. Cowan enjoys hiking, bicycling, backcountry skiing, running, sailing, reading and traveling.
