Lanny studied Medical Anthropology & Global Health at the University of Washington in Seattle with a focus on social determinants of health and the health disparities minority communities face. They are heavily vested in the wellbeing of the LGBTQ community, spending the last six years with a local non-profit LGBTQ center in Seattle promoting HIV/STI testing and prevention services. They are passionate about LGBTQ health education and have worked with organizations such as the Gender Clinic at Seattle Children’s Hospital to teach healthcare providers about Trans-inclusive healthcare. Lanny identifies as Two-Spirit and is a member of the Shuswap tribe of British Columbia. As an Indigiqueer individual, they are interested in the intersection of ethnic and cultural identity with sexuality and gender. Lanny will be starting medical school in the Summer of 2020 and hopes to address LGBTQ health disparities as a physician.
