Dr. Jamie Conniff

Faculty

“Justice and community are two core values for me. Both my work in general, as a teacher and a physician, and my work on the Trans and Gender-Affirming Care ECHO serving Indigenous people address those values head-on.”

James (Jamie) Conniff, MD, MPH, teaches in the University of Minnesota Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program and practices family medicine in Duluth with a focus on LGBTQ health. He oversees the residency program’s community health training and chairs its Healthcare and Homelessness Committee. Jamie is also the physician leader for Essentia Health’s Gender and Sexual Diversity Workgroup. He has previously participated in community-based research focused on improving access and quality of care for transgender people, and is particularly interested in training rural physicians to care for transgender patients. He grew up in New England and trained in Connecticut, New York City, and Madison, Wisconsin before moving to Duluth with his husband Carson, their dog Bart, and their evil cat Sheba.

Trans and Gender-Affirming Care ECHO Program

Jamie is faculty with the Trans and Gender-Affirming Care ECHO Program, which is designed to coach providers in giving appropriate, high-quality care to gender-diverse patients.
