Dr. Vivian Huang, Area Diabetes Consultant for the Navajo Area IHS, provides a situation report on the COVID-19 pandemic nationwide. In the second, Dr. Jonathan Iralu, IHS Chief Clinical Consultant for Infection Diseases, shares an in-depth overview of COVID-19 clinical care. In the final presentation, Dr. Paul Charlton and Dr. David Cheever, Emergency Medicine Specialists at the Gallup Indian Medical Center, speak about the preparations made at their facility and share their perspectives on  challenges IHS facilities will face in the near future.

Vivian Huang, MD, MPH, is the Area Diabetes Consultant for Navajo Area Indian Health Service. Previously, she was the Medical Director for the New York City Department of Health Immunization Clinic and Director of Adult Immunization and Emergency Preparedness for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Jonathan Iralu, MD, FACP, is the Indian Health Service Chief Clinical Consultant for Infectious Diseases. He has a special interest in HIV, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted disease care in rural communities. His research has focused on undifferentiated febrile illness in the American Southwest and on rural HIV care delivery. Dr. Iralu has worked at the Gallup Indian Medical Center since 1994 and is an instructor at Harvard Medical School and Senior Physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Division of Global Health Equity in Boston, Massachusetts.

Paul Charlton, MD, is an emergency medicine specialist at the Gallup Indian Medical Center.

David Cheever, MD is an emergency medicine specialist at the Gallup Indian Medical Center.
